askvenda notes
Fair compensation
Good work deserves fair, predictable pay. These are the compensation norms askvenda promotes across every trade, from tailoring to plumbing. They are guidance between you and the vendor; askvenda does not hold money in escrow and is not a party to your transaction.
Agree the price in writing first
Before work starts, confirm the total, what it covers (materials, labour, transport), and when each part is due, in a chat message you can both re-read. A written price beats a remembered price every time.
Pay in milestones, not upfront
- Small jobs (under 20,000 NGN): a small commitment deposit is reasonable, balance on delivery.
- Bigger jobs: split into 3 parts: start, midpoint, and completion after you inspect the work.
- Materials: where possible, buy materials yourself or pay the supplier directly and pay the vendor for labour.
Late or cancelled work
If a vendor misses an agreed date without word, you may renegotiate or cancel the unpaid balance. If you cancel after materials were bought, pay for materials already purchased plus work already done. Keep every receipt and chat record until the job is checked and closed.
When pay goes wrong
Talk first, then report. Open the vendor card and tap Report, or send /report to the bot. Safety and fraud cases are reviewed within 12 hours. Listings with 3 unique reports leave the directory pending review. See Dispute resolution for the full process.
