Trust and ownership
Claims and ownership disputes
A claim gives the real business owner control of a listing. It never changes identity verification or Premium status by itself.
Who can claim a listing
You may claim a listing if you own the business, are a director or partner, or are authorised in writing to manage it. A staff member can start a claim, but the owner or an authorised representative must confirm ownership.
What we ask for
- Your full name, role and a reachable email address.
- A phone number we can use for a callback.
- Proof of ownership helps us review faster, such as a CAC certificate, business registration, utility bill, or a signed authorisation letter. It is optional but strongly recommended.
- A short note explaining your connection to the business.
How the review works
We email a 6-digit code to the address you provide. After the code is verified, the claim enters the review queue. A reviewer checks the evidence and may call the business phone number or ask for more information. We do not approve a claim from an unverified email address.
Disputes
If another person disputes a claim, both parties may be asked for evidence. We may hold the listing in review while the dispute is open. AskVenda may decline a claim where ownership is unclear, the evidence is inconsistent, or the request appears fraudulent.
Your data
Evidence is stored privately and is only opened by authorised staff for claim review. Access is audit-logged. We never ask for your password, and we never publish your proof or full contact details on the public profile.
